DRDO: Public Sector Rebranding

Project Brief: This is a hypothetical rebranding project for the Defence Research And Development Organisation (DRDO). The design process followed started with secondary research, recognising a need for rebranding, ideation, form generation and digitising the final logo. Further, applications of the logo were explored along with a brand manual. A detailed report is attached within the project, which includes all stages of developing the brand identity.

The idea was to create a modern visual identity for the brand that would help them be recognised for their research and development work beyond its association with the three armed forces.

A comparison of the two logos (slider):
Feedback was collected through Google forms and a jury to compare the two logos. While the new logo felt more clean, modern and recognisable, the previous logo was not easy to recall but more relatable due to the use of the three armed forces.
Thus, the three armed forces were used as a graphic element as a part of the visual identity.

Report on the design process followed
An extensive brand manual with the above guidelines for the colours, typefaces and placement of the logo. Using the same guidelines, applications of the visual identity were created. I chose to create collaterals for DRDO's participation in Aero India and covered all graphics required for the event, including their exhibition display and signages. Apart from the event, the visual language was applied across various needs of the organisation.
